Le Sens Des Sens
Fabienne Magnant is an eminent guitarist and a former student of Roland Dyens and Olivier Chassin. She learnt traditional percussion in Brazil, where she notably played with Baden Powell, and she is now exploring the Spanish provinces with Terry Fleming. For this album, she has chosen to play three different guitars: the classical guitar, the flamenco guitar and the «viola caïpira», the Brazilian Nordeste peasant guitar. Her compositions of uncommon intensity blend the classical universe of the guitar with her South American and Spanish extrapolations, coupled with the instantaneous warmth of Brazilian influences. With delicacy and restraint, she makes us glimpse the imaginary worlds whose mystery she, alone, can penetrate. Rhythmic tensions happily vie with evanescent melodies. Fabienne Magnant borrows from all musical styles without ever adopting one, taking us to the subtle spheres of an unknown universe. This CD reflects her solo performance «The Sense of The Senses», a subtly-staged concert, which enhances the depth and delicacy of her music.
