Yiddish Balkans
Michèle Tauber is a remarkable singer and Yiddish-culture erudite. With musicians from the Balkans —the Bulgarian accordionist Misha Nisimov (co-founder of ‘Les Yeux Noirs) and the violinist Efim Zubritsky— and from France —the double-basse player Frédéric Fraysse— she pays a tribute to Eastern European Jewish composers and lyricists and to the heroic artists who managed to create in the ghettos. Her songs are hymns to the Yiddish language and the traditional inspiration of Yiddish music. The CD booklet includes the lyrics in Yiddish, French and English.
