Eternal Tides
This album is born from the meeting of Alain Genty (composer, arranger and producer of all the music) and the Scottish singer Joanne McIver (author and interpreter of all the songs). A few distinguished guests are present: Patrick Molard (biniou), Jean-Michel Veillon (bombard), Nicolas Giraud (trumpet), Christophe Saunière (harp), Thierry Garcia (guitar)... Scotland is the pivot of the album. Joanne McIver is a native of Arran Island, west of Glasgow, home to several songs. Some songs are interpreted in Gaelic. "Eternal tides" is the title of the album and the first track. The departure for distant fishing is the subject. The ocean: light and space, in all its immensity, its dangers; The nostalgia of the sweet childhood summers on the beach; The call of the native island; The songs of work on the port... But also the history of Scotland (on the title "Culloden"), relative to the ultimate battle against the English. These are the main themes of this album, united by some instrumental "entremers".
